Oh barnacles

Have you ever thought, hmm, I wonder if the shore next to a beach freezes when the tide is low?  Neither did we and you know what?  It does.  It feels just like cement when one walks on it.  Neat huh? 

We got in a much needed hike today.  The tide was the lowest that we have viewed it.  Due to the low water level, we were able to scale rocks and climb over to another small beach.  I even had a chance to find a few sea anemones.  Goal two, check!

 Lucky people we are to live here.  The way it sounds from the rest of the state is that there is a pig pile of snow in other regions.  Anchorage even opened up a ski resort for snowboarders and skiers this past week.  We would have never been able to get out and do hikes like this back in the Bozone this time of year.  A nice plus is that there aren't any bears or any other large predators to worry about.  How comforting it is to be able to hike without having to wonder if a bear or mountain lion attack is imminent.
