Easter

It has been a lazy weekend.  We only have four weeks left and boy does everyone seem to be feeling it.  On Friday we took our final geography test and are free from that burden now.  What a relief to be able to get through the last lag without the weight of college deadlines.

There was a low tide today at 2:30 pm, so we could not pass up a chance to get out.  Plus with a teacher in-service tomorrow, we had to make the weekend count.  For some reason, having a blah weekend before an in-service makes it difficult to participate.  A good weekend paired with trucker style coffee from the cafeteria tomorrow is sure to make for a good day.

Crab.  Nate overturned a rock and found this little guy.  I asked him to put it in my hand but then I panicked.  I opted for the coat sleeve instead.  Not growing up near the ocean, I just don't know which things are safe to poke at.

A sea anemone partially out.

A sea anemone sucked inwards.  It looked like a colorful beaded purse.  I had to fight the temptation to stick a finger in there.  Judging by the colors it could be poisonous.

Tree stump.  This tree was not connected to the ground but appeared to be firmly seated in this spot.  It was so sun bleached and out of place on that rocky beach.

Rock with a hole in it.  Nate was completely unaware that he was the subject of this photo.  I yelled stop and he assumed danger.  Not so much, but it made for a cool picture.

Green eggs of some sort.  They looked and felt fake, similar to fake grapes in squish and heft, only smaller.  The color was so intriguing, they just begged to be picked up.

Looks like spring is here.  How the grass withstands the bitter winds on this rocky shore is a mystery to me.

Mud Bay.  The tide was really low today.  Normally, the water covers the rocks and only a little mud is exposed.

Egg-Mazing Popovers.  Sadly, they deflated quickly after I took this photo.  They were still great drenched in syrup.

Cornish Game Hens with Lemon and Rosemary.  The AC store was closed by the time we got to it yesterday so we stopped by the toy store and stumbled upon two frozen game hens. (the store has four freezers that are stocked with miscellaneous frozen goods and a small grocery section).  It made for a nice Easter dinner.
